Eye cream may seem to be a high-maintenance product intended for those “older” than you, but the fact is that everyone may benefit from it.
Because the skin surrounding your eyes is the thinnest on your body, it is very fragile and sensitive. It loses water quicker than other places on your face or body, leaving it more prone to dryness. Dryness may make symptoms of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles, more visible.
You can’t simply use any moisturizer as the eye cream, though. The treatments you use on the rest of your face are not suited for the eye region. It’s critical to use the best hydrating eye cream specifically developed for the sensitive skin around the eyes.
Well, you may have some queries about how to use eye cream. Here’s a step-by-step guide to applying eye cream.
1. Select a product.
We recommend selecting an eye cream depending on your specific skin conditions.
Fine wrinkles and crow’s feet bother you? Look for wrinkle-fighting ingredients like retinol and/or peptides. Do you have black circles under your eyes? To promote circulation and battle the slow blood flow that may make dark circles seem darker, look for brightening substances like niacinamide and caffeine (coffee may help with puffiness in your eyes.)
When in doubt, look for multitasking formulae that can handle all the above and more!
2. Wash your hands first.
Because applying eye cream with your fingers is the ideal method, make sure you wash your hands (well) beforehand. The last thing you want is for bacteria to go into your eyes.
3. Make sure you’re using the proper quantity.
You should always follow the instructions for the specific product you’re using. However, as a general rule of thumb, a pump or half-pump of eye cream per eye is usually adequate. If your eye cream comes in a jar, we recommend scooping out approximately half a pea-size quantity for each eye.
It may not seem like enough, but bear in mind that eye creams are often highly concentrated; most eye creams are far more hydrating than other skin-care products since the sensitive skin around your eyes need more moisture.
4. Correctly apply eye cream.
We recommend dipping a finger into the cream and making a semi-circle of dots that starts just below the inner portion of your forehead and moves laterally and upward along the orbital bone that surrounds your eye. Then gently tap the eye cream into the skin.
I recommend gently patting the cream into the skin with your ring finger, which applies the least amount of pressure to the skin. Avoid rubbing it in since this might irritate the delicate eye region.
5. Recognize when it’s appropriate to use it.
Most eye creams are supposed to be used both morning and night and are most effective when administered correctly and regularly. (This is particularly true when it comes to making use of their moisturizing properties.)
If you just wish to apply once a day, we recommend doing so at night. Overnight, your skin falls into a natural reparative and regenerative state, making it an ideal opportunity to give it a boost with anti-ageing chemicals present in many eye creams.
Some best hydrating eye creams, on the other hand, use reflecting particles or caffeine to provide a cosmetic brightening effect. Because the advantages are for instant appearance rather than longer-term skin adaptations, these are best used throughout the day.
